Overview

With rising costs and limited financial resources, the economic climate continues to present serious challenges for the Boston Public Schools in the development of the school district's budget for the 2010-2011 school year (fiscal year 2011). On Wednesday, February 3, Superintendent Carol R. Johnson presented the preliminary FY2011 budget to the Boston School Committee.

Preliminary Budget Presentation at School Committee Meeting

PLEASE NOTE:  In order to give the public an opportunity to offer constructive feedback on the FY11 budget, the School Committee has rescheduled the upcoming budget hearings to take place after the March 10 School Committee meeting. At the March 10 meeting, BPS Chief Financial Officer John McDonough will present more detail about how the district proposes to close the remaining $32.5 million budget gap for FY11.

Therefore, the February 25, March 8 and March 10 budget hearings are CANCELED and the new dates are as follows:
